Lab Technician, Level III/ Lead

Location: Varies | Reports to : Lab Director

Responsibilities

  • Execute laboratory protocol and procedures under the supervision of the Lab Director.
  • Regularly display good laboratory technique to avoid cross-contamination or misidentified samples.
  • Provide training and mentoring for incoming extraction technicians.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for extraction techniques.
  • Perform sample preparation procedures including homogenization, weighing, and extraction.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative tests.
  • Perform primary and secondary data review.
  • Manage workflow and prioritize samples based on daily assessment of sample volume and testing status.
  • Assign daily preparation and extraction tasks for other technicians.
  • Utilize the LIMS system to create batches, enter sample prep information and maintain physical and electronic records.
  • Oversee maintenance of equipment and facilities, notifying Lab Director of any calibration or service needs.
  • Adhere to ISO 17025 standards as well as state regulatory requirements.
  • Manage consumables and reagents inventory and coordinate biweekly supply orders.
  • Promote a strong customer service culture while adhering to the highest safety and industry standards.
  • Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related field, based on state requirements.
  • 3+ years of post graduate lab experience is strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of principles, terminology, practices, techniques, and instrumentation commonly used in a laboratory setting preferred.
  • Exposure to the cannabis industry is a plus.

Lab Technician, Level II

Location: Varies | Reports to : Lab Director

Responsibilities

  • Execute laboratory protocol and procedures under the supervision of the Lab Director.
  • Regularly display good laboratory technique to avoid cross-contamination or misidentified samples.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for extraction techniques.
  • Load batch sequences onto instruments and provide first or second level review, as needed.
  • Provider training and mentoring for incoming extraction technicians.
  • Perform sample preparation procedures including homogenization, weighing and liquid extraction.
  • Perform QC duties as assigned, including ICV, CCV and calibration curves.
  • Manage workflow and prioritize samples.
  • Perform and record results from water activity, moisture content, and filth and foreign.
  • Utilize the LIMS system to create batches, enter sample prep information and maintain physical and electronic records.
  • Adhere to ISO 17025 standards as well as state regulatory requirements.
  • Manage inventory supplies and alert supervisor in advance when materials must be ordered.
  • Promote a strong customer service culture while adhering to the highest safety and industry standards.
  • Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related field, based on state requirements.
  • 1-2 years of post graduate lab experience is strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of principles, terminology, practices, techniques, and instrumentation commonly used in a laboratory setting is preferred.

Lab Technician, Level I

Location: Varies | Reports to : Lab Director

Responsibilities

  • Execute laboratory protocol and procedures under the supervision of the Lab Director.
  • Regularly display good laboratory technique to avoid cross-contamination or misidentified samples.
  • Perform sample preparation procedures including homogenization, weighing and liquid extraction.
  • Perform QC duties as assigned, including LCS and matrix spikes.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative tests, as assigned.
  • Utilize the LIMS system to create batches, enter sample prep information and maintain physical and electronic records.
  • Adhere to ISO 17025 standards as well as state regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a strong customer service culture while adhering to the highest safety and industry standards.
  • Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related field based on state requirements.
  • 0-1 year of lab experience.
  • Knowledge of principles, terminology, practices, techniques commonly used in a laboratory setting preferred.
  • Exposure to the cannabis industry is a plus.

Lab Analyst III

Location: Varies | Reports to : Lab Director

Responsibilities

  • Analyze samples consisting of a variety of matrices and cross trained on various laboratory technologies including, but not limited to, HPLC, GC/MS, LC/MS, and ICP/MS
  • Act as company wide subject matter expert on at least one analysis by providing guidance and training to local and off site labs
  • Train and mentor incoming analysts and technicians on methodology.
  • Assess potential problems that may arise in performance of testing and initiate appropriate action, as may be required
  • Accurately prepare calibration curves and quality control samples
  • Interpret and evaluate data in terms of accuracy, precision, trends, and quality control requirements
  • Maintain laboratory equipment by cleaning, replacing parts, and performing advanced maintenance to ensure ongoing proper working order. Report equipment issues to supervisor
  • Lead the laboratory team for assigned analysis by making independent decisions relating to sample preparation and prioritization of testing
  • Perform method validations, or verifications with minimal supervision, and assist others as needed
  • Track inventory of supplies and reagents to ensure no interruption of work-flow
  • Lead laboratory investigations, and corrective actions as requested or assigned.
  • Able to provide scientific interpretation of results to supervisor, management, or customers as requested
  • Conduct laboratory internal audits as needed
  • Prepare samples for analysis while displaying good laboratory technique to avoid cross-contamination or misidentified samples.
  • Able to perform method development to respond to changing client needs or regulations
  • Manage SOP for assigned testing analysis and alert management when there is a change in procedure
  • Maintain high productivity, keen attention to detail, and consistent multi-tasking while yielding a low testing error rate.

Qualifications

  • Minimum BS/BA in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering or Environmental Sciences required.
  • Knowledge of principles, terminology, practices, techniques, and instrumentation commonly used in a laboratory setting required.
  • At least 5 years of post-college laboratory experience, or 3 years with Kaycha Labs
  • Instrument experience required.
  • Food science and/or environmental experience is a plus.
  • Exposure to the cannabis industry is a plus.

Lab Analyst, Level II

Responsibilities

  • Analyze samples consisting of a variety of matrices using traditional laboratory technologies including, but not limited to, HPLC, GC/MS, LC/MS, and ICP/MS.
  • Prepare samples for analysis while displaying good laboratory technique to avoid cross-contamination or misidentified samples.
  • Accurately prepare calibration curves and quality control samples
  • Interpret and evaluate data in terms of accuracy, precision, trends, and quality control requirements.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment by cleaning, and otherwise ensuring ongoing proper working order. Report equipment issues to supervisor
  • Prioritize samples and provide guidance and support to the sample prep team for assigned analysis.
  • Perform method validations, or verifications with minimal supervision as needed.
  • Track inventory of supplies and reagents to ensure no interruption of work-flow
  • Oversee root cause analysis for quality assurance.
  • Assist in SOP edits as needed for assigned testing analysis and alert management when there is a change in procedure
  • May be able to perform method development to respond to changing client needs or regulations
  • Research new technologies and methodologies to improve laboratory processes and techniques and make recommendations to supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Manage inventory supplies and alert supervisor in advance when materials must be ordered
  • May participate in root cause analysis for quality assurance.
  • Assist with training incoming analysts and technicians on methodology.
  • Participate in the development or updating of departmental SOP’s.

Qualifications

  • Minimum BS/BA in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering or Environmental Sciences required or based on state requirements.
  • Knowledge of principles, terminology, practices, techniques, and instrumentation commonly used in a laboratory setting required.
  • At least 1 year of laboratory experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least one analytical instrument preferred.
  • Food science and/or environmental experience is a plus.

Extraction Specialist

Job Type: Full-time I Salary: DOE

Responsibilities

  • Preparing equipment and plant materials for extraction
  • Operating extraction equipment
  • Cleaning and maintenance of lab and extraction equipment
  • Maintaining records in LIMS
  • Log solvents and inventory
  • Performing clerical work as it pertains to extraction lab
  • Performs related duties as needed; and

Qualifications

  • Minimum BS/BA in related field

Chemist Intern

Responsibilities

  • Preparing samples for analysis
  • Ensure that all data generated meet quality control requirements
  • Report to the chemistry team leader
  • Work with the laboratory team to meet reporting deadlines
  • Consumables ordering, sample storage and disposal, cleaning and similar lab processes
